Automod

What's Automod?

The automod plugin allows Circle to moderate your server based on the filters you enable. She'll take appropriate moderation action against your members when they reach a certain threshold of warnings.

Getting Started

Navigate to your server's dashboard.
Select the Automod plugin. If it's not enabled, you'll need to enable it.
Select an automod log channel from the drop-down menu.
If you want Circle to carry out temporary mutes/bans, make sure there's a modlog setup in the moderation plugin.
Follow the instructions below.

Punishing Repeat Offenders

This configuration will determine how many automod violations a member can accumulate in close succession before being muted or banned.

Select a max automod violations number from the drop-down.
Select a repeat offender action from the drop-down. This is the type of punishment Circle will embark on when a member has reached the max automod violations.
Specify a duration, in minutes, for the repeat offender action in the temporary length box.

In this example, members will be muted for 10 minutes after reaching 3 automod violations.

Ignoring Channels & Roles

You can configure Circle to completely ignore a channel/role from automod, or only a specific filter. Circle will ignore all server moderators and administrators regardless of your settings here.

Globally Ignoring from Automod

To ignore a channel/role, simply select it from the respective drop-down.

Ignoring Per-Automod Filter

Click the gear icon to the right of the filter you wish to edit.
Select the channels/roles you wish to have ignored from the respective drop-down.

Automod Filters

ANTI-SPAM: Punishes members when they're sending multiple messages in a short period of time.
PHISHING/SCAM LINKS: Punishes members who post phising/scam links, such as fake Discord Nitro gift links. Please note: this filter is in beta, and may occasionally have false-positives. Please report false detections to us in our support server!
BAD WORDS: Punishes members when their message contains a wildcard or exact banned word.
IMAGE SPAM: Punishes members when they're sending multiple images in close succession.
STICKERS: Punishes members when they post a sticker.
INVITE LINKS: Punishes members when they post a Discord guild invite link.
DUPLICATED TEXT: Punishes members when their message largely contains repeated strings or characters. (You can set the duplicate text limit by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box.)
EMOTE SPAM: Punishes members when their message exceeds the max emoji limit. (You can set the max emoji limit by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box.)
ANTI-MENTION: Punishes members if they ping a VIP member or a VIP role. (VIP members/roles are configurable by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box.)
LINKS: Punishes a member if their message either contains a link, or contains a blacklisted link. (Specific behavior of this filter, such as blocking all links or just certain ones, is configurable by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box.)
FILES: Punishes members if they upload a banned file extension. (Banned file extensions can be set by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box.)
NEWLINES: Punishes members if the amount of blank newlines in their message exceeds the newline limit. (You can set the newline limit by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box!)
MASS MENTIONS: Punishes members if the amount of @mentions or role mentions in their message exceeds the mention limit. (You can set the mention limit by clicking the gear icon to the right of the box.)
GHOST MENTIONS: Punishes members if they mention a user, and then delete the message.

Heads up! You need to give Circle View Audit Log permissions in the server for the Ghost Mentions filter to work. Circle will make sure a moderator didn't delete the message, before considering it a ghost mention.

Banning Words and Phrases

For words to properly be filtered out in your server, please make sure the bad words filter is not disabled!

Banned Words

Words you input here are industry-named "wildcard banned words". If the word is detected at all in a message, it will be filtered.
Example: If you banned the word 'tab', the word 'table' would be filtered since table.

Exact Banned Words

This group of words is exactly what it says on the tin, Circle must find an exact match of the word for it to be filtered.
Example: If you banned the word 'tab', the word 'table' would be not be filtered, but 'press tab rn.' would be.

Adding Words to the Filter

To add a word, simply type it in the box and press enter.
